Hiss from Sony DVD-S550P decoder?

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt):

Well, after wating and waiting I finally took the plunge and bought a DVD player. I got it all hooked up and was impressed to all hell, until the first time I watched something at movie volume. That's when I noticed the hiss. I've tried several DVDs and same problem, an annoying hiss that's not present on the system for any thing else (CDs, Videos etc.).

I'm hoping someone can tell me what the problem is and if there are any fixes.

HK AVR 80 II reciever
Sony DVD-S550P DVD player
Snell E.5 Speakers (L/R/C)

I'm using the internal decoder on the DVD player via the 5.1 channel output (*not* digital) to the 5.1 input on the reciever. Cables are Radio Shack gold.

The HK AVR80 does not have digital inputs, only 5.1 ready.

So...any suggestions? Different DVD player? External decoder? Cables? As great as the picture and rest of the sound are, I'd rather watch videos than deal with the hiss.

Thanks,
AC
