Sony D8 vs JVC DVF-7

Using Mozilla/3.0 (Win95; I):

:First of all I hope this the right forum for this posting.
:Secondly, I hope the model nos. are same where you are reading this.

:Sony has recently introduced their new digital 8 (D8 as they call 'em) camcoders 110E and 310E over here in Dubai. They recon the quality is as good as the real DV camcoders, with the additional feature that I can use normal 8 cassettes which are much cheaper than DV cassettes.

: Almost at the same time JVC have introduced DVF-7 and DVF-3 DV camereas which are much cheaper than original DV units.

:I need to know the following:

Q1: Is Sony's claim really true or is it just another sales promo.

Q2:What should I be looking for in a DV camcoder. Although JVC DVF-7 is reasonably cheaper, am I going to get a quality similar to analog camcoders as I am not buying a top notch DV model.

Q3:Prices of Sony and JVC are very similar and with the Dubai Shopping Festival ongoing both are throwing in extra goddies like free cassettes and carrying cases. But I like to know on picture quality basis s to which is superior.

Please help me make my mind up.
