$3,000 to spend

More music than HT or vice versa? Are there space considerations such as tower speakers vs. bookshelf or maybe subwoofer size and placment? Here are some generals... Speakers-Paradigm, NHT, Polk Audio. I prefer these lines for the price and performance in general. The Polk line has some exceptional HT performance for the price range you are looking at with the type of power(receiver) you are using. NHT is great and gets even better with cleaner amounts of power. When they have juice they sing. Paradigm is an all around good value for HT and music applications as well. CD- Hard to say if you want a multi-disc or single. If multi then how many?....5, 25, 301??? You could use your DVD player as CD transport to save cash and put more into the speakers. The DA converters in the receiver are most likely better than those in a cheap CD player or the DVD player. turntable- Everybody has there own sound they search for in a turntable IMHO. DVD player- best bets are the Sony 330, Panasonic A-120, or the Toshiba 2109 IMHO. The older A-110 from Panasonic and the DVD_300 from Sony are also solid choices at discounted prices. The Sony has the edge as a combination DVD/CD player, the Sony two laser design helps. tuner- I am assuming you meant tuner. Correct me if I am wrong. Do you mean tuner or maybe DD/DTS pre/pro??? Do you have the amp already? FYI..I have a Sony ES system with Polk Audio that does a superb job as my HT and music entertainment centerpiece of the house. I also have Rotel paired with NHT in my spare bedroom/junkroom/office/hobby center/ and MUSIC listening room.
