Divx is in the opposing corner of Blockbuster...doesn't make sense to me. Blockbuster would not make much if anything on the intial sale of the Divx disc then shoot themselves in the foot by loosing the rental customer. Maybe thats why i am not in marketing??? maybe it is a way to differentiate Blockbuster from the rest???

i do know that when I asked my local Blockbuster when they where going to start carring some substantial stock of DVDs (September 1998) they said they would see how DVD was doing by Christmas. The manager also said they would see how Divx was doing??? Hmmmm, he knew about Divx and also concluded it was a threat?? He commented that Divx would not be at Blockbuster and that Blockbuster would promote DVD to kill Divx.

He was just a store/shift manager, but I am sure the CEO must be seeing the same thing.
