Component Video Cables - expensive!

Using Mozilla/4.05 [en] (WinNT; U):

I've just managed to pick up a Pioneer DV-414 for $299 - good deal I thought. Now I need to get some Component Video cable - but I need about 8m. The going price for this is about $300 (from Monster Cable)!!! Is there something special about Component Video cables that warrants spending more on the cable than the player...?
