DVD connection

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 95):

I looking for a DVD player to buy, but I'm concerned about my Processor. It's a Pioneer VSX-452 that I've bought about 5 years ago. It comes with Dolby Pro-Logic, Dolby Surround, and connections for CD, LD, VCR etc...but where can I connect a new DVD ? It was not my plan buying new receiver right now. Can I connect a DVD in LD connection (I don't have a LD) ? Do I have a S-Video connection (I heard it's the best way for video resolution ) ? ...
