It was not my plan buying new receiver right now. Can I connect a DVD in LD connection (I don't have a LD) ? Yes you can connect a DVD player to the LD input. You will not get the best audio that DVD is capable of as your receiver is not Dolby Digital capable, but if you connect the analogue outputs from the DVD player to the analogue ins on the receiver you will get Dolby Pro Logic downmixed from DD by the DVD player. :Do I have a S-Video connection (I heard it's the best way for video resolution ) ? ... Do you? Check your receiever and TV. Do they have s-video inputs? If the receiver does but the TV does not, you are stuck with using composite video from the DVD player. If the TV does but the receiver does not you will have to connect the DVD player direct to the TV by an s-video cable, and just use the receiver for audio processing and not video switching. So you can get by with a non-Dolby Digital receiver. But when it's time to upgrade your receiver make sure it has Dolby Digital processing and s-video switching and when it's new TV time get one with s-video at least, if not component video inputs. As an alternative to a new receievr you could try one of the add-on boxes from Vantas which will add DD processing to your current set up. See link below.
