What you're actually looking for is an S-video selector or switcher. Technically speaking, a splitter would take a single S-video output source, such as from an SVHS VCR, DVD player or DBS receiver and split it, amplify it and send it to two or more input devices such as receivers or TV monitors. Such devices are available but I digress.

Sony makes a simple manual device, the SBV40-S (see http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/home/accessories/switchers/index.shtml) which is widely available for less than $50 at such places as Crutchfield and Best Buy. On the other end of the price and performance spectrum is the Monster Entech Director AV4.1, reviewed in the March Home Theater Mag.
