Right now, DVD playback on Computers is about equal to a good low price DVD player but if you want to access other computer features, you will need a scan convertor to view the video and the DVD at the same time.. That said, the quality of the DVD picture goes out the window depending on the scan convertor used. NOBODY is making a good scan convertor (IMHO) that can give you the same quality of picture that you would get from the S-Video out of the DVD player in the computer. I have tried to do this myself last year and just could not get the resolution on the large screen to look right. The image was there but did not look right. The trade-off is that the scan convertor is trying to emulate the computers progressive scan imaging. When you use a large font and icon (800x600), it looks OK, but when you go to higher resolution (1024x768)the images tend to shimmer. On projection sets, the non-convergence will be noticeable as well as the eyes telling you something is wrong.. A great Idea though. When progressive scan TVs get popular, this will be a reality
