Remote speakers - 'snap' sounds

It sounds like the voltage is dipping enough that your remote speaker amplifier thinks it is being turned off and on. A power bar with a large capacitor may help, if not you may have to add a full-blown UPS to clean up the power to the speaker.
Try also using a hospital grade plug and receptacle and a good quality cord, that might be enough to get a good connection to your power supply. See UHF magazine's web page for an interesting article on this.
