There is a new, even better DVD for HT setup than the Video Essentials disc. It's call Avia, and has better black level and white level patterns for video setup - i.e. it does NOT require your DVD player to produce blacker-than-black video (since some don't). Also a REAL sharpness pattern (unlike VE) that directly identifies correct sharpness setting. VE comes close, Avia hits it on the head. Also, 3 color filters are included, not 1 blue filter like VE.

Also - the audio section completely blows away VE - there are *multiple* audio tests and tones (not just 1) for placement - and true frequency sweeps that REALLY help you position subwoofers and surrounds for optimal coverage and quality. My system has never sounded so good!

Others on this forum will disagree, I'm sure, but Avia's been out for only 1 week - thus, they haven't SEEN how good this beauty is. It really makes VE look like "old technology".

The disc is $49, but is 3-4x better than VE.
