Toshiba SD-2108 DVD/CD Player???

This 'distortion' can be read as pits and lands by CD players. CD players use a long wavelength infra-red laser. DVD players use a shorter wavelength visible red laser and apparently it cannot resolve the distortions. My Panasonic A310's manual specifically states it cannot read these discs. I believe the Sony players have two lasers and can actually play these discs. IMHO this incompatibility is a major flaw in CD-R and/or the players. Had I understood that at the time I purchased the A310 I would have bought the Sony. Using PCs to record music on CD-R is revolutionary. Hope this explanation helps a little, Rodent
