A question about pre-amps from an audio novice

Using Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; AK; Windows 95):

Hmm.. I have a NAD C340 amp. If I hooked a pre-amp to the NADC340, would this effectively "double" the power of my amp (both rated at 50w/c at 8ohms). I have a pair of Maggies and would love to give them more juice. IF I am able to do this (using the main in?) What happens to my subwoofer, which is now connected through my pre-out AND man-in jacks on my NAD?
