If you say you have a pre-amp rated at 50W/Ch then it is an integrated amp, the 50W/Ch refers to the power stage. If one or both of the amps is "bridgeable" then you can do what you describe by bridging both amp's power stages (I think - it may be that both amps must be bridgeable). Note that doubling the power as you describe will give only a subtle increase in volume, so if that's what you're looking for you should make a much larger jump (i.e., 400W monoblocks!)
