Difference between RGB and component

Posted by Garmt van der Zel [IP: 194.151.95.22] on May 29, 1999 at 18:57:20
Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win95; I):

Hi all!

I live in Europe, where some Region 2 DVD players have RGB outputs on Scart or Cinch. Some Region 1 import players have Component outputs.

Could someone tell me if I can watch Region 1 (NTSC) DVD's with an RGB output, or do I have to use the S-Video output? And the other way around: can I watch Region 2 DVD's with the component out?

What's the difference between RGB and Component (I thought it had something to do with a synch signal on component)? I will have both on my forthcoming Sony VPL-W400Q projector.

Can anybody shine some light on this subject?

Thanks in advance!

Garmt
