Simple DVD connection question

It's refreshing to hear someone say that :) I posted on rec.audio.high-end once asking why Toslink is 'inferior' and I got a whole slew of responses along the lines of 'because it is inferior'. No one actually gave me a rational answer, so I came up with my own: you can use a regular, 75-Ohm video cable as a digital interconnect for coax, which is easy to acquire, but for Toslink, you actually have to hunt down a fibre optic cable... :)
