Simple DVD connection question

Certainly over short distances I think there is little to chose between them especially for DD and DTS purposes where the digital signal is actually sent in packets and either gets there or does not.

Of course the "preference" for coax enables the cable manufacturing industy to work its snake oil. Though I did see in the latest HT magazine that Vampire cables are now selling a Toslink cable with polished gold-plated connectors - what on earth would the benefit of that be I ask?? Apart from charging a higher price....
