Tech question on bi-wiring, urgent. Posted by Alex Lehmann [IP: 199.227.186.99] on November 28, 1998 at 01:23:30: I have a Yamaha RX-V2092, (2) B&W DM602 front speakers and (1) B&W CDM-CSE center channel speaker. I recently bi-wired all three front speakers and they sound great. (I even posted my comments here a few days ago.) However, I have been reading several postings on bi-wiring, where they mention about switching the receiver to 4 ohms from 8 ohms? How should I set my receiver and where are the settings? I am also running speakers to the outside of my house using "speaker B" on the receiver. Have I damaged my receiver by not switching to 4 ohms on my main front 3 channels? Please advise quickly, I don't want to use my receiver unless I know it's O.K. I am using Monster MCX1s bi-wire cable, with only one set of connectors for behind the receiver, but 2 sets of connectors for connecting to the speaker (it's bi-wiring cable, obviously!). I only want to be sure that I am not damaging the amplifier inside the receiver. Furthermore, I intend to purchase either the B&K AV5000 or the Rotel 985(?) 5 channel amplifier in the next 6 months. Will these amplifiers be able to handle this bi-wiring if indeed I must switch to 4 ohms? Need advise fast. I want to use my system. Thanks.
