I own the RT 800s. I have been very happy with them. They have been very flexible in my system producing great sound from a not so great environment. I liked the RT 1000 a bit more, but was not able to afford them. My friend is very happy with his RT 1000s. The soeakers are very well built and produce a nice soundstage with good imaging. They are not open and airy in the tweeter and they are not all that transparent (which some people do not like). I happem to love the Polk's RT line. It has really improved to make a capable speaker that sell for less than others in its soundquality range. If you are looking at it for HT then you will NOT be dissapointed. The RT 800 with CS 400 center and f/x 500 rears have made some of the best HT reproductions I have heard. Simply awesome with my sub.
The key to how good they are is what you think of them. I have friends that have poor speakers in my opinion (no names), but they like them and think they are the best, that is what counts. Some may be critical of my Polks, but they are right for me. Polk RT series speakers have been getting good reviews from the press and HT forums on the web, but you need to listen yourself.
Good luck and enjoy.

Kurtis
