Polk RT1000p Speakers Posted by Dennis Pagoulatos [IP: 208.255.86.180] on December 15, 1998 at 17:07:05: In Reply to: Polk RT1000p Speakers posted by Kurtis on November 30, 1998 at 18:35:58: Well I recently set up a new system with Polk RT1000p's and a CS350 center, LS/FX Rears to a Sony 50ES receiver and a velodyne HGS-10 sub (the sub definitely helps a lot!) The polks, even without the added sub, sound phenomenal, easily better than my previous models (I used to live in NYC, now in San Francisco) which were Polk RT-16 for front and the same as above for the center, rears. The RT-16 are basically the same as the newer RT-800, with an older cabinet design, great speakers. I loved that Polk system (with 1st generation Kenwood DD receiver + Pioneer 604 LD player) it really kicked some DD butt (I also had a Polk 120watt sub, which they don't make anymore, used to be called the PSW120 and it was good down to 24HZ, not like the newer sub with the same name with only 90W and I think 35HZ... Anwway, you won't be disappointed with the 1000p's, I'm sure not, they're a noticeable step above the older RT-16's (or the current incarnation called RT-800) But listen to them for yourself if you can, try to get a pair to demo in your own home, it's the surest way to tell... Hope this helps... Dennis Pagoulatos
