Boston Acoustics vs. Definitive Tech. IMHO it really depends on the rest of your system. To me the Boston's were a much more clear and clean, detailed speaker (though I did not like the 950s, they missed too much of the low end for my taste). Adding a quality powered sub could compensated the difference well enough (didn't try it though). The DT's clearly hit me with more low end, but the clarity & imaging was just not there. Their rear firing added a spacious sound, but just not a clear enough one for my taste. Would sound fine with some loud rock music though. Just not the speaker for me. I'd VERY much STONGLY suggest that you give a listen to the Boston 960's. They had the best of everything that I have been looking for so far. Very clear along the full range. Bass was great with the powered woofers. They blew the socks off of the 950s and the DTs IMHO. You could step up to these for around $900pr. EASILY worth the extra cash. I'm still planning on auditioning some NHT's (have to drive a ways to do it). I've heard good things about them. Probably be listening to their VT1.2's, but so far the 960's are in the lead. Anyone have thoughts on the NHT's? Compared to the 960's? Similarly priced? There's my two cents....what's yours??
