Yamaha YST-SW300 Sub - any good? Suggestions? Posted by Demir Ateser on September 18, 1998 at 11:58:05: In Reply to: Yamaha YST-SW300 Sub - any good? Suggestions? posted by SteveL on September 02, 1998 at 12:31:05: : I am returning an Energy ES-10 which has a buzz at mid volume ranges, and found the Yamaha YST-SW300 Active servo, 185 watt 12" sub on www.netmarket.com for 303.69 (inc. shipping and tax!) which is less than what I paid for the Energy! Question - is the sub any good? Anybody have experiences with netmarket? Suggestions? : Thanx! Yes, I have just tested out my YST-SW300. Man-oh-man! This sub is incredible. The Active Servo Technology's negative impedence circuit *IS* all that it lives up to be. The sound can be tightened for music or opened up for movies. I find that centered ( flat from high to low -3db points ) for normal listening. When my kids are sleeping, I tone it down so that they don't think that we are having a lightining storm. I have checked out polks high end subs, klipsch, energy, bose, pioneer, Mirage and have not been able to find one to match this baby for under $800. This sub is retailed at around $599, and I purchased it for $319+shipping at the speaker discount wharehouse. One thing to note that some of that 185watts of power must be pumped into the damping mechanism, since the volume is not what I expected it to be for that kind of power. *BUT*, it is plenty loud and the sound quality is stupendous. I recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality sub. Here is my setup: Feel free to contact me at demirateser@hotmail.com if you would like to chat some more. God( what(who)ever that may be ) - I love this stuff! Demir Ateser
