How close is too close? Even if you do, it doesnt cause any perminant damage. Sometimes you can place a speaker too close to the TV, see the distortion, and move the speaker away and the distortion remains. Just turn the TV off and on and it will go away. A few years ago, my brother in law moved and his TV was stored next to a speaker for a few weeks. Once he complted his move, he turned on the TV and the picture was all purple and he thought it was broken-not realizing the problem with the speaker. I recognised the symptom, asked him about the proximity to the speaker and he said it had indeed spent considerable time next to one. It took a couple days, but it went completely away. John : I have always read or heard that if you put a speaker near your TV set and you got no picture discoloration or distortion than your placement was okay. I placed my speakers (8 inch woofer with Lineaum ribbon tweeter) about 4 to 5 inches from my set and noticed no problems. Am I on shaky ground? Is there any cumalative effect from having them in close proximity over a period of time? : Thanks for any input,
