Please suggest better speaker than BA.

My friend just bought a pair of Boston Acoustics VR 970 for $1600/pair. They are floor standing model and he will use them as L/R for HT and music.

Can he get better speaker in this price range? He can trade up for other speaker in 1 year. The other brands that available in that store are Mission, Mirage, and Klipsch.

(He can still return them if none of those speakers mention above are not as good as some other brands.)
