sub wiring, HT hookup

I used to have my klipsch KSW-200 sub connected to the main terms, with monster cable orig. 12 gauge, high passed to sats. Now, I use a monster 18 feet Junior Interlink RCA cable into the "sub" single input in sub. I want to know if this is the same sound as before, and also i set my mains for small on my yamaha R-V1103 receiver, and i would like to know where it cuts the bass off so i can set my sub accordingly. any input appreciated.
