From personal experience I can tell you that in a room your size there is no substitute for moving a TON of air. I have yet to find a 10" driver setup that will fill that size room. If you must go small, I'd go with two of them.

The smallest sub I heard that would fill my room (18x36) was the Velodyne 1215X. Not sure if they even make it anymore. It was only slightly more that what you quoted and it put out a load of low bass without distortion at high levels in a big room.
