I've listend to only two of the subs you listed. The Mirage and the PSB.....Although they were in different speaker setups, I found the Mirage to satisfy my ears and chest best.
On another note, you may be fine getting away with cheap surrounds if your only running dolby surround flicks, but you may need to upgrade if you go dolby digital or DTS, and you definitely should never sacrifice on the center. It is the most important speaker in a HT. You also should match the center to your front speakers for better results, and match all 5 for best results. As for the sub, I've yet to hear any convincing argument for the need to match a sub to the rest of the system, so any sub that fits your bill will do.

: Hi,

: I'm looking at buying a subwoofer to go with my current system that is being used for movies and regular listening.

: I have a Yamaha A/V receiver: RX-V480
: My two fronts are: PSB 300's
: I have some cheap Radio Shack speakers for rears and centre channel. I may upgrade to better fronts and axe the radio shack rears later, but first I'd like to get a sub.

: I'm considering these Canadian subs:

: Can. prices:
: Axiom AX150 - 10" driver $399
: Mirage PS12 - 12" driver $550
: PSB Century Subsonic 2 - 10" driver ~$500
: Paradigm PDR-10 - 10" driver $368
: Paradigm PDR-12 - 12" driver $438

: Any suggestions?

: Gin
