Speakers suitable for digital surround?

Check the owner's manual on your speakers and see what their nominal impedance is. If they are 6 ohms or above, the Yamaha should be able to drive them OK. If they are 4 ohms you may be pushing your luck a little.

If they are more sensitive than about 88 dB or so, you can probably get sufficient volume out of them for use as mains.

BTW, I have the 995 and love it. I'm using it with Mirage SM-3s as my mains, a Boston VR10 and Energy xl16s as my surrounds. All I need now is a subwoofer, and I can really annoy the neighbors.
