COnnecting Sub woofers

I am planning to connect an 8 inch sub-woofer (50 W) with my present Audio System of 400 W PMPO. As I am a novice in this field, can any one tell me how to connect the sub woofer with the Amplifier and the the Left and Right Speakers provided with the Amp.Please also let me know what would be the box design for fitting the sub woofer,whether front open type or else ?
