Best Bass Speaker for my BOSE SYSTEM? Posted by Alan Maier[SysOp] on September 29, 1998 at 21:16:18: In Reply to: Best Bass Speaker for my BOSE SYSTEM? posted by Kris on September 28, 1998 at 22:45:07: Kris, There are a LOT of good powered subwoofers out there that would work very well for you. If KABOOM is high on your list, then take a look at the offerings from Definitive, Velodyne, Paradigm and M&K (I could go on and on here!). I own a ACI Titan and am very pleased, however it is more of a musical sub than a KABOOM sub - still an excellent performer. Since your Acoutimass series Bose sats do not have crossovers built into them, you would still need to keep the passive bass section (it's really not a subwoofer despite what the salespeople might have said) in the system. Simply select a powered sub that has a speaker level pass-through/crossover (most do - but make sure you don't buy one that does not!) and install it between your amplifier and the Acoustimass bass section - then continue the wiring to the sats as you are now. All you are adding is a true powered subwoofer ahead of the Bose setup. This setup is the simplest, it will work well and you will keep the Bose speakers that you are happy with. I know keeping that bass section in the system seems odd - but you must (it's easy to hide after all). You really do not need to spend a lot here - $500 to $800 should have you doing ample damage to the plaster Have fun! Alan : I have an Onkyo poweramp and 5 surround sound BOSE speakers. Then it comes with a subwhoopher that is weak. I'd like to add another subwhoopher to my home theater that really ROCKS the ground when Jurassic Park dinasours walk by. I was looking at dance club subs, and they look to be great (like the Cerwin Vega mini earthquake one) but I dont know yet. Money is NO object, what would you get? : Thanks in advance for your time!
