: I was planning on buying a new set-up from Def Tech ( BP 30s with center and surrounds). A dealer is trying to convince me to use a pair of 20 yr old Klipsch Heresys ( I already have ) as surrounds and buy a pair of Klipsch Legend 10 to use as mains. Have heard both and the Def Techs sound brighter ( no surprise ) but the Klipschs have better bass. I honestly have no preference. Input??????Better? No not really. Different? Absolutely. They are almost opposite ends of the poles. Klipsch is a horn loaded direct radiating. Very effecient very bright. DT is a bipolar Aluminum dome tweet. Very flat very mellow. They are about equals (DT may edge out a little on their subs). I am a Klipsch fan. I have KLF30's for the front and KSPS6's for the rear. Go with what you like. Don't be swayed by what the salesman wants to sell you (I can say that - I am a audio salesman!!!). If you like the Klipsch then great but I don't know about Heresys as a rear speaker. Don't you think it would look funny? Dan Ingler ps Listen to the KLF20's they are like the 10's but with an extra horn tweet.
