: Hi, my name is Dennis and I'm in the : process of building my home theater. : I'm starting out with the Energy take5 : and ES-8 sub. If you have installed a : take5 or similar small systems, I would : like to ask you for some advice on : installations. My living room is 20'x 18 : and I've decided to use a Denon AVR2700. : This will be my first time setting up : a Dolby Digital system. I would like : to know what is the best speaker place- : ment for my living room. Will the take5 : speaker be able to take the full 80watts : from the reciever? or will the front : channel have to go through the ES8 sub : to crossover the lower frequency like : most sub/sat systems? (which probably : mean I won't be able to take advantage : the LFE channel from the DD reciever) : Also, I have a couple of questions on : mountings. Will Dolby Digital sound : better when mounted higher and directed : down toward listening area or should be : positioned on stands at ear level? : (I'm asking this because since the take5 : is so small, it'll be convenient on the : wall) Finally, on the surround speakers, : will the take5 be able to take 80 watts : of full range sound from the Denon? : (I understand that DD uses full range : surrounds). And what has been the best : mounting positions for the take5 when : used as fullrange surrounds? (I was : thinking about hanging both, high on the : back wall and directed toward the listen : area in the front, but I have seen some : other types of surround speaker mounted : on both sidewalls, opposed to each other : near the listener.) I don't really : understand much about speakers or the : way they are affected by positions. : Thanks for any help in advance! : I have owned the Take 5 system and ES-12 sub for a year now, and have been using them full range w/Dolby Digital the whole time from a Kenwood 1080-VR receiver. They sound great and I've never had a problem! I've heard they are not supposed to reproduce sounds below 80 Hz too, but I've tried them set to both "small" and "large", and they definitely sound better large. I'd advise watching a movie with them set each way and see if you agree with me. As for the setup, definitely go with a sub cable from the receiver to the sub's input as well as all other speakers from the receiver. Good Luck!
