Adding a tweeter to a center channel Posted by F. Schmidtke [IP: 162.42.205.72] on October 27, 1998 at 12:44:25: I have a Yamaha center channel with two 4" full range drivers and would like to add a tweeter to it. The 4" drivers are 12 ohm each and are wired in parallel which makes the pair appear as a 6 ohm load. My plan is to use a Polk trilaminate tweeter which is suppose to be 4 ohm, but measures 5.5 ohms with my meter. If I hook it up in parallel to the existing drivers the total impedance drops to 2.9 ohms. I have been told that tweeters do not draw that much, and that I should not be concerned about impedance load on the amplifier in my receiver. Or, should I just connect the tweeter and get some resistors to increase the impedance for the entire setup. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
