They're both great speakers. The Energies, are not full bipolars in the sense that the rear firing driver compliment is not identical to the front firing drivers.
The advantage here is on music. You get a more localized soundstage, as you would with traditional front firing speakers (where the DefTech tend to have a never-ending soundstage) .

I'm a DefTech owner -and a very happy one at that. However, if you're in the price range of the BP8 or BP10, I'd recommend going with Energy's A3+2 instead. If, however, you can spend more then, by all means, step up to the DefTech BP30 or powered 2000 series. I really believe that the cheap Audissey (A3+2) is better than the cheap DefTechs (BP8 and BP10) but the more expensive DefTech simply blow the doors off the comparably priced A5+2 and APS5+2.

: Has anybody compared these two lines of speakers? I have heard the Definitive BP8s. Any differences in these two bipolar designs? Any experiences to share or warnings? I want to use them for both HT an Music. Also, can you get the Energy line mail order? I know it is next to impossible to get the Definitives less than list.

: Are there any other speakers I should consider in the bi-polar class?

: Thanks in advance
