BUY IT! That is the subwoofer I was thinking of, and it's quite good. I was not familiar with the B&K receiver, but indeed if you set the bass management to filter out bass from the front mains you will be better off using the LFE output just as the dealer suggested.

If I set my receiver to small speakers (I think that is an 80hz cutoff) and adjust the PS1000 to around 90hz or so, then wouldn't that help the Bose offload the lower frequencies and help the midrange? : : Paradigm builds some very good subwoofers and I have heard a number of them. I can't "place the face" of the one you have in mind, however odds are it's a good unit. Also consider the Yamaha '300 and '150 powered subwoofers - an excellent value!

While that system is well tuned and audible distortion is very low due to the porting, reducing the low bass demand will provide an improvement in th mid-bass area.
