Paul,

NHT 3.3s sounding "lean"? There is something wrong there with that demo. The 3.3 is a favorite of mine and Ive heard it several times and "lean" is defiantely NOT a word I would use to describe them.

Bass power from that speakers is increadible. Ive even heard a 60 watt tube Jolida do a credible job driving them.

What NHT does very well is keeping bass powerful and taught while not allowing it to intrude on the midrange performance. So, if you are concerned about a lean..I would call it neutral lower midrange performance, well, I wont argue with that.

I highly recommend you going back for another demo, if you can with perhaps a different set of CDs.

All of that being said, however, is not to take away from the KEFs. While not really my cup of tea, a lot of people are fond of them.

What really matters is how these speakers are going to sound in your room. Are they both sold by the same dealer? When considering speakers in this price range, I highly advise that you demo them both in your room before you commit.

John
