The new Polks use increased sized drivers for one reason-they sound better.

Particularly for the center channel, Polk has come to the conclusion that larger speakers are required to preserve the dynamics intended for the center channel.

I highly advise you to give the new ones a listen. Depending on your listening habits, the improvements may or may not be something you can appreciate.
