Question on PSB speaker impedance

Posted by Jeff Henderson [IP: 192.58.194.69] on March 26, 1999 at 15:35:22
Using Mozilla/4.08 [en] (Win95; U ;Nav):

I am considering buying the PSB Stratus Silvers to go with a Harman Kardon AVR 75 receiver. The receiver states that I should connect only 8 Ohm speakers. I noted from the PSB site that the Stratus Silvers have a nominal impedance of 4 Ohm. The dealer I was listening to these speakers at stated there should be no problem with these speakers and H/K. I dn't really understand the signifigance of the impedance value and whether 4 Ohm would damage the receiver or not. Should I rule out the PSBs strictly because of the 4 Ohm impedance? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
