Best HT Speakers under $1500

It consists of two very impressive (and surprisingly small) front speakers, two small, bipolar rears, a small center, and an 8" sub. In the US, the M9000 system lists for $1,000 but can be had for as little as $850. The Boston setup I described to you is NOT the M9000 and will therefore cost a bit more, as I indicated. What I described was 4 of the "front" speakers (as opposed to 2 fronts with 2 bipolars), and larger center and sub than come packaged with the M9000. Buying a la carte like this will cost you a bit more. I recommend you give a listen to the M9000 prepackaged system - which is what you'll likely find on display at a dealer - as it may well meet your needs and save you some money. You'll also find Polk, Cambridge Speaker Works, and Energy fans on this forum. There are also many mentions of Bose, with almost an equal number of disparaging remarks. Polk manufactures at least 2 and maybe 3 6-speaker HT combos which list for under $1,500. I believe Cambridge has at least one. You'd have to a la carte piece together the Energy system. Their "Take 5" satellites are popular but not pleasing to my ear. They are very small with perhaps a 3.5" "woofer" that perhaps obviously has no bass but to me has no midrange either. Keep in mind however, that there is no more subjective a purchase than speakers, so other opinions don't mean much. If Radio Shack speakers sounds best to you, go for them. I've read postings here that you can build an Energy HT speaker constellation for between $600 and $800. re: Bose, they sure sell a load of speakers; maybe they're just better or more widely marketed than some of the others. Again, in my opinion, they fall into the listen and decide category. Two potential catalog sources also came to mind - Crutchfield, and J&R Music World. Both have web sites. I don't know if they ship internationally.
