Martin Logans, Velodyne and current

Posted by Bruce McDermott [IP: 38.169.95.11] on March 29, 1999 at 22:14:30
Using Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Update a; Windows 95):

I'm setting up a HT system with a Sherwood 9080R pre/pro, an ATI 2505 amp, a Velodyne HGS-18 sub, Martin Logan reQuests for the mains and a Logos for the center (haven't decided on the rears yet). My question has to do with current. The ATI is rated at 250 watts/channel into 5 channels at 8 ohms; the Velodyne is rated at 1300 watts with a Class D amp. I want to run the system on a normal household 20 amp circuit with a 20 amp wall plug, and I want enough current for the amps to reach spec. ATI tells me no problem with their amp, but can I also run the Velodyne on the same cirucit? If not, I'm kinda screwed, because my house is wired, like a lot of houses, with only one circuit for the room with my HT set-up in it. Problem?
