Dipole/Bipole speaker placement for DD/DPL

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (WinNT; I):

I am trying to determine the best set up for my Polk dipole/bipole surrounds with my Sony TA-E9000ES preamp. Before I had DD I used to have them (and prefer them) in dipole mode directly to the side of the listening position. However, I hear that bipole is better for DD, so I set them up in bipole mode behind the listening position. I feel that I preferred the previous setup for DPL.

Any suggestions, comments, or experiences on this would be greatly appreciated.
