Tim,

I own a pair of Sapphire IIIs and used to own a pair of early 1980 vintage Infinitys with EMIT HF drivers. Truthfully the EMITs are on the bright side when you run them with the crossover controls set full-up. Yes I liked those big old hogs (mine were 12" three-ways) but I ran the tweeters down a bit. In my opinion the spectral balance of the Sapphire III is dead-on accurate, in fact some people complain of them being bright! To my ears they are very natural. I use both tube and MOSFET solid state amplification with them. Do you have them on 24" stands?

I am a bit puzzled at your experience with them being soft at the top. Maybe you are simply used to that airy top end of the Infinitys?

Alan
