Need help setting up ES8 Sub.

I have the exact same set-up, 50es, ES8 sub.

I have the 50es set to small speakers for front, rear, and center--I have the Energy Take-5 package. . .definitiely small. I also have the sw-mix (subwoofer mix) set to ON.

As for the ES8, it is connected to the sub-out of the 50es, and into the x-over input on the sub. This bypasses the internal crossover and volume control of the ES8. I believe that the Sony's subwoofer crossover point is around 100 hz. This means that the ES8 is playing 100 hz and down. This sounds good to me.

I have set it up using the subwoofer input on the ES8. It sounded ok as well, though I know in principle, the sound is degraded if you pass it through multiple filters (namely, the 50es's subwoofer low-pass filter, and the low-pass input filter on the ES8.) This is why I'm using the cross-over input.
