System Setup

Good Day to one and all. Here’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I am finally going to get a home theater setup come hell or high water. The kid is old enough to where she hopefully won’t destroy what I buy, I finally have her trained not to bang on the TV with her toys. The wife is finishing her masters and will once again join the work force, hence its time to buy some new toys. The system setup is as follows.
Front L/R - NHT VT-1.2 or NHT VT-2
Center - Undecided
Rears – Undecided
Receiver – Yamaha RX-V995
DVD Player - Toshiba 2109
What I am looking for is comments and or suggestions about the above setup. Basically I have one shot at getting my new toys. The wife acceptance factor is low, so low one can not measure how low it goes. When I talk about the setup she will ask why do you want to spend more money on something as “goofy” as a home theater setup. I have decided its better to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission. Hopefully the setup that I decide on will win her over and she will stop shaking her head in disapproval. So please help me out and give me some feedback. The names in this post have been changed to protect myself, all I need is for my wife to see this message.
