Subwoofer boxfilling material

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win95; U):
I have questions about what to use to fill my 12.8 cu ft(net vol.) box for JBL 2245H.
I ran out and had bought about 20 lb of cotton( I have made two such boxes), but now, I have questions about cottons reaction to unavoidable humidity in the basement. Most of the people that I talked to have suggested polyfil,I am not going to use fiberglass for health reasons. Anyone any suggestions about cotton or polyfill?
