you certainly don't have to "brand-match" a sub to your main speakers. setup will probably be more crucial than anything else.

give miller and kreisel a try! they make quality subs that are good for both music and movies. you should be able to get something like a 100-150watt with 10 or 12 inch driver that'd be adequate for even a large room.
