Sub Connection

I think the ideal situation is to have a very-low-frequency capable subwoofer connected to the LFE output, and have full-range speakers on the mains. This may require you to use higher frequency but faster subs for the mains (which are connected to the high-pass filters on these subs) if your mains aren't capable of reasonably low frequencies.

BTW, I think the A-1 only redirects the < 90Hz if you select Small in the setup.

I don't think you would want to re-introduce any signals from the LFE pre-out to your mains, so I'd say a big NO to your second question. If you have no Sub, the A-1 should be able to re-route the LFE to your main speakers. Do this instead.
