Soliciting Opinions On Speaker Stands

Posted by William Bunker [IP: 63.10.146.236] on June 28, 1999 at 17:16:44
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; MSN 2.5; Windows 95):

My home theater will have a carpeted concrete slab for a floor. Do expensive steel, welded, sand-filled, spiked stands have merit here? If such stands really do work to conduct spurious vibrations away from the enclosure and into the floor, won't the concrete floor most likely reflect the energy rather than absorb it?

I might be willing to spend the money if I thought it would make a real difference. My plan is to use a couple of pairs of old B&W Matrix-1 speakers along with some floor-standing towers.

Thanks in advance.

Bill
