A final comparison: Velo F1800XR vs Energy 18XL

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 95):

Ladies and Genetlemen of the forum,

It comes time for a diffcult decision. I'm in the market for a large powered subwoofer but price is an issue. Onecall is selling a Velodyne F1800XR for $1000 and The Energy can be had for $1200 or so.

I understand that the Velodyne is out of production so I won't be able to hear it locally. I can audition the Energy sub within driving distance.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom about these two units?
