Listen to the expert and listen to your ears. I few years ago, I went shopping for my first receiver and put way to much stock in watts! Thank god I listened to a friend and then my ears one last time. I bought a Harman Kardon receiver with low watts that completely sounded cleaner and more powerful than all the higher watt systems within a $200-$300 range of its price. Hope it helps.
